Just that quickly, the year is half over and it is time to start planning for the summer holidays. Memorial Day came and went and this year, Independence Day falls on a Sunday which means more people will be enjoying a long weekend and even more will be planning their vacation to coincide with this most patriotic day of the year. If your journey brings you to Cape Cod for 4th of July this year, this guide to how we celebrate will make you glad that you chose to spend this holiday close to where our nation began its journey all those hundreds of years ago!

4th of July Parades

2020 was a rough one and many of our regularly scheduled events were cancelled due to the pandemic, so we are excited that things are opening up again and because nothing is more heartwarming than a 4th of July parade, this guide lets you know where you can go to enjoy one this year! The Chatham Independence Day parade is one of the nation’s oldest holiday parades and is scheduled to be held on Saturday, July 3rd at 9:30. Offering the theme “Chatham: From Shell-tering in Place by the Sea, to Celebrating a New Beginning,” this special event promises to be a beautiful celebration of the return to normal in our nation. If you are staying in one of our Brewster Foran Realty escapes, the city of Brewster is planning its own 4th of July Parade on July 4th, starting at 9:30. Of course, if you really want to go all out, attend both parades and enjoy a super special Independence Day celebration.

But What About Fireworks?

What is 4th of July without fireworks, right? Well, unfortunately many of the fireworks displays have been cancelled and others are still in the planning stages, but as of today, Dennis is still planning their annual West Dennis Beach Party, offering music, a bonfire, and a fireworks celebration that is scheduled to begin at 9:00 PM. The towns of Sandwich, Orleans, and Hyannis are still in the planning stages, so we can’t determine if there will be fireworks, but we can pretty much guarantee that if you want to see fireworks, someone will be setting them off, so why not head to the nearest beach and see what happens?

Destined to Be Memorable

Cape Cod is beautiful any time of the year, but it is during the summer months that our paradise really shines. Offering a plethora of excitement, you may find your one-week stay is not long enough to see it all as you spend many hours on our sandy beaches and even more hours enjoying seafood dinners you just can’t get at home! Take family pictures in front of any of the lighthouses found at the Cape Cod National Seashore, explore the treasures found inside the Cape Cod Museum of Art in Dennis, or take in a live show at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod in Yarmouth. Open again after the pandemic, our self-imposed isolation over the last year made us realize more than ever how important the arts are to our soul!

Sleep in late in our comfortable beds and wake up to the sweet taste of donuts purchased from Captain Baker Shop in West Dennis, take a few minutes out of your day to watch the sunset over the ocean, and end your evening with an exquisitely prepared meal from Twenty-Eight Atlantic in Harwich. And when you feel the need to get outside and explore, the Cape Cod Rail Trail is where bikers, hikers, and joggers find their happy place, and kettle ponds offer water so clear that an unplanned dip on a quiet and sunny Tuesday afternoon may be added to your itinerary. Looking for an adventure unlike any other? Your first sight of a whale breaching the waters just a small distance from the boat will never cease to awe you; whale watching tours are offered by many local tour companies from April through October.

It Just Keeps Getting Better

However you choose to spend your days and evenings, coming home to your Foran Realty summer escape will add an extra touch of wonderful to your Cape Cod getaway! Reserve yours today!
